Hello readers! This is my first leilappetit post as a married woman, after the Silver Fox and I were hitched on 5th July here in the gorgeous ‘burgh of Edin. My wonderful (and ever-hungry) fella and I have had many a food adventure over the past six years, and I hope to continue furnishing this little blog with tales of dining out and keeping you up to date with the best shops, producers and food-related escapades. If you’ll allow a little self-indulgence for a moment, I have to say it really was the best day of my life; mostly as it was a never-before achieved gathering of all my favourite people. Great times.
Our sunny wedding day itself was a relaxed kind of a do during the day and a hoochin’ shindig at night. Of course the food was always going to be a big part of the day’s proceedings. I tried to work in as many local suppliers’ wares as I could without it coming across as being a farmer’s market! We had artisan smoked salmon from Comrie, berries from Ochil Foods, Macsween Haggis, IJ Mellis cheeses, Edward & Irwyn chocolates and some Burgh Bakes marshmallows, flowers from Pyrus . Not to mention a fair whack of dancing juice, including a certain oak-aged Scottish Beer whose company I work for!
Plans for an anniversary party are already in the offing so I can organise another massive shindig (it’s clearly not enough to be an events manager by day!), but in the meantime I’ll try to resume normal service on this here pet blog of mine. We’ll be back to tales of charcuterie, olives, sourdough and steaks before you know it!
Bye for now,
Leila (aka Mrs Fox-Appetit)
PS In case you’re wondering, we honeymooned in bootiful Cuba, sunning and rum-ing ourselves to the max!
ah congrats!
