From humble beginnings in 2005<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"line-height: 14px;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman',serif;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: small;\">with a small unit on Leith Walk, a few years later the shop\u2019s owners have now realised their dreams of developing what was originally an import shop into a bustling store and caf\u00e9. Now, they\u2019re proud to have an in-house bakery to supply their own traditional breads for the caf\u00e9\u2019s sandwiches, as well as selling the loaves whole or sliced in the shop.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"line-height: 14px;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman',serif;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: small;\">They\u2019re taking the authentic Polish recipe breadmaking seriously too. Flour is imported directly from Poland, and it took them a while for owners Lucyna and Kelvin Ellis to find the right person to take on the mantel of being \u2018the breadmaker\u2019, as well as test recipes, of course!<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"line-height: 14px;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman',serif;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: small;\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"line-height: 14px;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman',serif;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: small;\">On a recent visit, I was lucky to be given a backstage tour of the kitchen, and had the chance to see the various loaves sitting patiently in their trays whilst the dough did its rising magic. Forty minutes later, a basket piled high was brought out to the front of the shop. The unmistakable smell of freshly-baked bread genuinely turned heads as it wafted through the store!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5142\/5695283817_77be979ea8_b.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"480\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5142\/5695283817_77be979ea8_b.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"line-height: 14px;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman',serif;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman',serif; font-size: small; line-height: 14px;\">I had my eye on a couple of loaves, and had first pick from this batch. The half rye and half wheat loaf had the most perfect crust, and a light texture inside but with the classic munchy flavour that rye gives. Another loaf, sprinkled with caraway seeds and made with wholewheat was the sort of bread that\u2019s just waiting to be taken home to hang out with a bowl of soup for lunch, ooh, and not forgetting a lick of butter.<\/span><br \/><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman',serif; font-size: small; line-height: 14px;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3511\/5695288587_bacd1b1a1c.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"480\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3511\/5695288587_bacd1b1a1c.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"line-height: 14px;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman',serif;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"line-height: 14px;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman',serif;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: small;\">Deli Polonia already make some fresh cakes including cheesecake and the Polish speciality karpatka and they plan to add more along with pastries. In the meantime, for a genuine taste of Poland and Eastern Europe, try different flavours of spicy kielbasa sausages, pierogi, condiments<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman',serif;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: small;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"line-height: 14px;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman',serif;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: small;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman',serif;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: small;\">and sweets.
